Our History
Earthcare Natural Lawn and Landscapes was founded by Darrell Smith, who saw a need for more sustainable landscape methods in our urban environment. Inspired by his experience on staff at the Urban Ecology Center, Darrell began in 2004 and built the company from the ground up (literally), investigating soil science and adapting organic techniques that are used by agriculture and landscaping professionals nation-wide.
Darrell pioneered the use of Aerated Compost Tea (ACT) in Milwaukee turf and tree care. His passion is utilizing natural systems to cultivate beautiful landscapes that are safer for human and ecological communities. Earthcare combines organic maintenance with landscape design centered around native plants and natural forms. Earthcare has a double meaning. We care for the earth, and we, in turn, are cared for by the earth.
