Low Maintenance Gardens
Any honest landscaper will tell you there is no such thing as “no maintenance” gardening. Even in truly wild prairies, we must be on the lookout for invasive species that can easily take over if given a foothold.
However, several strategies can help reduce maintenance. Native plants require less fertilizer and winter protection. Dense plantings, proper mulching and selective smothering will also limit weeds. However, even with these strategies, perennial gardens may require as much or more care than lawns. Gardens usually need more maintenance during the first 3 years of establishment and then some tapering off will occur thereafter.
We can discuss these factors in greater detail in a consultation.
